Hytale Chapter 1 guide to the goblin world and Deep Works

Everything to do in Hytale Chapter 1, from your first goblin breach to the Guttering Hollows, lab upgrades, and prepping for the Deep Works dungeon.

Hytale Chapter 1 guide to the goblin world and Deep Works

Hytale's Chapter 1 update, Out of the Breach, adds a full goblin world, the Deep Works dungeon, and two boss fights. By the time you reach the Deep Works, you will know where to start, what to farm, and which lab machines to repair.

Getting to the goblin tower

The entry point is still the Forgotten Temple. Gear up, unlock the memories feature, and enter the tower. This time goblins have taken over one of the main temple towers, and that tower is the hub for the chapter.

The tower is built from new blocks. Scripted goblins patrol the outside and inside. The scrapper mobs on the ledge either fight each other or throw glass bottles at you. That is more nuisance than threat. A gateway blocks the front room from the lab area behind it.

The goblin power generator sits beside the gateway and needs 10 scrap to repair. Fixing it sends a notification about a disturbance in the echo, the main world you entered the temple from. Return the way you came and look for a yellow beam with a map icon. It usually appears near the temple ruins or just outside, and it marks your first goblin breach.

Clearing goblin breaches and the Guttering Hollows

In Quebec Corner's walkthrough, the first breach is the one every player hits in the same spot. It lasts 5 minutes after you trigger it, and the next one waits 30 minutes. Bring extra armor because a small squad of goblins spawns inside and is genuinely dangerous for a player still at temple tier.

Entering the breach drops you into the Guttering Hollows, a new biome region built on World Gen V2. You will find goblin buildings, cave systems with small civilizations, and a void that eats into the map and your session timer. If the void closes in completely, the run ends and you are kicked out.

The loop is simple: destroy the void tentacles, hit the void crystal at the center of the cluster, and collect the void crystal shards it drops. Each cleared encounter extends your timer, so take out lower level fights first and save the beefier void mobs that drop enkindled sigils for later. Goblin structures overtaken by spiders give silk, and you should loot goblin structures and anything the Feast Master drops before you must leave.

What the goblin lab actually does

Back at the tower, powering the generator plays a long animation that lights up the lab and makes the three key machines interactive. They are the goblin tinkerer's workbench, the goblin gateway, and the portal breach console.

The gateway repair costs 4 void crystals and reopens the portal to the Guttering Hollows. The portal breach console upgrades the portal duration from 10 minutes to 14 minutes. That gives you more time to reach the deeper cave structures on a single trip.

The tinkerer's workbench is static and stays in the lab. It unlocks gadgets, fragments, goblin decorations, and combat runes that add abilities to your weapons. At the start you can craft only boom powder, dynamite, and a dubious assembly, another ingredient for a later repair. After you fix the boiler and the compressor, higher crafting tiers open up, including the spy glass, a drill, a glider, and rocket boots.

The glider and rocket boots both need a void bear hide. That hide is a rare drop from a boss you hunt in the Guttering Hollows with a spy glass, a bear trap, and a void heart as bait.

Prepping for the Deep Works

In the game text, the Deep Works is an ancient gateway that has hosted the greatest goblin minds for longer than any goblin can remember. In play, it is a large dungeon with puzzle rooms, dense mob spawns, and two bosses. The Feast Master is the first fight, and the Gobliterator has a full arena fight with goblin spectators.

You do not need the Gobliterator core to start the dungeon. You do need the boiler and the compressor repaired to gain access. The engine does need that core, so you will fight the Gobliterator before you can fully upgrade the lab. Budget for a lot of scrap, void crystal shards, void hearts, enkindled sigils, silk, and a void bear hide before you walk in.

The chapters tab in your menu shows six planned chapters. Completing Chapter 1 grants the scrap archinist hat, the cape, the junk pilot safety vest, and the junk pilot helmet. The update also adds over 100 new cosmetics in total, and many are still locked with no visible unlock requirement. The Goblin Thief cape is tagged as a Cursebreaker Edition exclusive, and Cursebreaker Edition owners can claim a free extra copy of the game each time a chapter releases.

Mini games are live

The update ships with a mini games tab. Queue into Prop Hunt, where you hide as a prop while hunters use smoke bombs to find you, or Shuffle Jam, a set of quick rounds. Both are available from the menu once you are in a world.

Frequently asked questions

How long does a goblin breach last in Hytale Chapter 1?

A goblin breach runs for 5 minutes after you walk into the yellow beam zone. When it ends, the next breach waits 30 minutes. The first breach almost always appears near the Forgotten Temple. Clearing void encounters in the Guttering Hollows extends the session timer, but it does not reset the breach cooldown.

Do I need the Gobliterator core before I can enter the Deep Works?

No, you do not need the Gobliterator core to enter the Deep Works. You need the boiler and the compressor repaired in the goblin lab to gain access. The engine upgrade requires the core, so you can still explore the dungeon, complete puzzles, and fight the Feast Master before taking on the Gobliterator in its arena.

What can I craft at the goblin tinkerer's workbench?

The workbench handles four categories: gadgets, fragments, goblin decorations, and combat runes. Early on, you can make boom powder, dynamite, and a dubious assembly. Repairing the boiler and compressor unlocks higher tiers, including the spy glass, drill, glider, and rocket boots. Most advanced gadgets require a void bear hide. You earn it by luring and defeating a void bear in the Guttering Hollows.

How do I find a void bear in the Guttering Hollows?

Void bears spawn randomly in the Guttering Hollows. Craft a spy glass at the tinkerer's workbench, use it to pinpoint the bear, and place a bear trap at that spot with a void heart as bait. The hide is a guaranteed drop, but the lure step makes it one of the harder resources to get consistently.
